Sunday, Sep. 21 1 2 3 F North Dakota 4 1 4 9 Bemidji State 0 1 3 4 Bemidji, MN - UND started its 2025-26 campaign this past weekend with a road trip to Bemidji State University. This matchup will mark the second time that the Hawks head to Bemidji to open the season since 2022. A fresh slate for both teams entering the weekend with UND leading the all-time series (6-1-1). The weekend matchup will offer a rare Saturday-Sunday series for the Hawks.
North Dakota would have a slow start on Saturday resulting in a scoreless first period for both squads. It wouldn't take long in the second period for Freshman, Luca French to record not only his first goal in the ACHA, but also give the Hawks their first of the young season. Junior defenseman, Nick Lind would follow suit adding another tally just over a minute later. The flurry of goals in the second period would continue with Jorgen Mehus netting another for the Hawks. Freshman, Cayden Alphin gets into the scoring action grabbing his first goal in the ACHA. The Hawks roar in the second period to bring the lead to 4 before the break. Hunter Campbell is UND's lone goal scorer in the 3rd period netting two of his own before the final buzzer. Game 1 on the year would see the Hawks win 6-1 over the Beavers. Freshman goaltender, Riley Swanson stands tall to stop 22 of 23 in his debut for North Dakota.
Sunday would offer a different story as UND storms into the Sanford Center recording 4 tallies in the opening frame. Hunter Campbell records his 3rd of the year to open the scoring in game 2. Cole Deraney, Tanner Graczyk, and Cayden Alphin all follow in his steps putting the Hawks up 4-0 after the first period. The second period was much quieter with Bemidji State netting their first of the contest and Hunter Campbell answering right back to keep the lead at 4. The final frame on Sunday would see 7 goals scored between the two teams before the final buzzer rang out. Notably, Freshman Derek Sandler becomes the third Hawk to record his first ACHA goal of the weekend. North Dakota routs the Beavers on home ice for a final of 9-4 on Sunday. 2nd year goaltender, Noah Sutlief stops 19 of 23 in the contest to secure the win.
North Dakota starts the season out on the right foot picking up two wins on their first road trip of the year. They will be heading on the road again next weekend looking to add to the win streak and get some revenge against a South Dakota State team that got the better of them last year on Halloween weekend.
